{{{firstname}}}, I hope this edition of the Costa Rica
Land Trust newsletter finds everyone enjoying their summer.
Right now it is "invierno" or what the Costa Rican's call winter; we
call it rainy season. The weather tends to be nice during the
day with clouds in the afternoon and rain in the evening and
nighttime. Some days are a complete wash out and this year's
rainy season has started out wet. It is the jungle after all.
Some exciting news about the airport in the Southern Zone. The
government announced they portioned 600 hectares or about 1,500
acres for the project. They previously announced the funding
of the project team for the environmental impact and economic impact
study. Many other projects are underway which include: 1) road
improvement and paving to Puerto Jimenez and Drake, 2) road paving,
new bridges from Quepos to Dominical. Read on...

My Next Trip: August 8th - 18th
|
I am headed back to Costa Rica
in August to get some work done, show property and have a
little bit of fun. I will split my time between Quepos at
Montanas y Mar where we will be shooting some TV footage
which will air on Oxygen and the Ion networks this fall and
Vista Del Mar south of Dominical showing property.
If you have plans to be in Costa
Rica or can make it down, let me know and we can connect up
to see some property and share a cold cerveza. |

Vista Del Mar Improved Road Complete
|
Juan, our
site manager, says that we have the best community road of any
development in the area. Of course he is biased but it is pretty
nice. Since Vista Del Mar borders the Costanera, our access is
nothing short of excellent... come see for yourself.
Add
on top of that running water, electric to each lot pad and
lots that are prices at about 20% below the surrounding
market, we make for a pretty good investment. Now I have to
say I am biased! Come see for yourself!

Development Update: Montanas y Mar
As many of
you know,
the rainy season got off to an early start, but we have had some
breaks in the weather. Regardless, we continue to make
progress at Montanas y Mar: widened entrance, new access road, etc.
If you saw the property four months ago, come back and it will look
like a different place. We have maintained environmental
integrity while providing access and building lots pads.
Those who
have visited and walked to the waterfall trail remember making a few
stream crossings. We decided to improved the path to the large
waterfall so those who are less fleet of foot (that includes myself!)
can enjoy the beauty of the terrain. We installed to two foot
bridges that make the walk more enjoyable as well as dryer. I will
be sending the lot plans out soon to those who have
requested them.

Montanas y Mar Welcomes Blair Northern
We want
welcome Blair Northern as our most recent resident to Montanas y
Mar. Blair and his wife have chosen lot # 25 and are looking
forward to building in the near future. Blair is an engineer and
thoroughly inspected the property before making his final purchasing
decision. We look forward to having the Northern's as part of
the community.

Arias Visits Central and South Coasts (appears in AM Costa Rica)
The following article was in AM Costa
Rica several weeks back. Note a few things: 1) emphasis on the
Central and South coast, 2) push for infrastructure with the ribbon
cutting at the Quebrada Suya Bridge and 3) tourism with the
groundbreaking at the Marina in Quepos (work actually started back
in March).
President Óscar
Arias Sánchez will spend Friday in the Quepos area and then visit
Puerto Jiménez on the Osa Peninsula Saturday, Casa Presidencial said
Wednesday.
In Quepos, the president will engage in ribbon cuttings and
inspections as well as host a meeting of his cabinet, the consejo de
gobierno, at 10 a.m. Friday in the gymnasium of the Colegio Técnico
Profesional.
Ribbon cuttings are scheduled at the Quebrada Suya bridge, the
Centro Comunitario Inteligente in Parrita and the Los Reformadores
housing project in Parrita. He also will sign the paperwork
for a trust between the Vivienda Palma project in Damas and Banco
Promerica.
Arias also will participate in a groundbreaking at Marina Pez Vela
in Quepos at 4:30 p.m. Saturday he will inspect road work on
the Constanera Sur near the airport in Quepos and then fly south to
announce some new projects.

Cheap Airfares to Costa Rica
Two new low
cost carriers recently announced they will be flying to San Jose,
Costa Rica. They are Frontier which is based in Denver and
Spirit which is based in Ft. Lauderdale. I frequently fly to
Costa Rica from Atlanta and have seen prices drop since Spirit
announced they will be flying to Costa Rica. I have found one
of the best flight rate comparison sites to be:
www.orbitz.com.
I expect you
will see another three or four low cost carriers announce routes to
Costa Rica in the next year. Fares should go down and
convenience will continue to improve.
